Class 7 Maths: Everything you must know to score well

Class 7 Maths: Everything you must know to score well

Class 7 Maths is the foundation for the students to have a better understanding of the concepts in the higher classes. The concepts and the theories are to be understood so the students can implement them practically in their preparation. The base and foundation should be made stronger in the initial levels. This will help the students to cope with the pressure of the syllabus. CBSE class 7 Maths can be well prepared from NCERT Solutions which are curated in a perfect way making the understanding simple and easy.

The syllabus of class 7 Maths consists of 15 chapters. All the chapters are very important and students have to know the basics and their implementation. Scoring well is possible in Maths only when your practical knowledge and logical thinking are thorough in solving the problems.

Chapters in class 7 Maths

The chapters are Integers, Fractions and Decimals, Data Handling, Simple Equations, Lines and Angles, Triangle and its properties, Congruence of Triangles, Comparing quantities, Rational Numbers, Practical Geometry, Area and Perimeter, Exponents and Powers, Algebraic Expressions, Symmetry and Visualizing Solid Shapes.

These chapters are the introduction in class 7. Students getting the grip of the syllabus in the lower classes can achieve greater heights when they go to the higher classes as they will get the clear concepts of these chapters which are continued in the next classes.

Students should be aware that Maths is not a subject that can be memorized and learned or can be prepared before the exams. This is the subject that needs vigorous practice every day. The more you practice the more you will rectify the mistakes.

Understanding the logic and the steps involved in each problem or theorem is very important. This can be achieved only when you practice every day and recall the mistakes that you would have made the previous day. Practice and understand where you go wrong and how you can rectify the mistakes.

Some problems will be tricky and need thinking in each step. Just don’t turn to textbooks or notes by seeing the problem. The problem might be tricky but nothing is outside the syllabus. Think and start remembering the formulas or the rules to be applied. Start with steps so you will get the procedure as you continue to do.

Study plan

Your study plan must include mathematics every day. Count on the exercises in each chapter. Try to do a minimum of two exercises every day so you can cover all the problems and know how to solve different types of problems. This will help and give you the practice and understanding of each topic well.

The example sums in the text are very important. Practicing the same will make you familiar with different types of problems. Do not leave any problem unattended. You have to know to solve each sum if you want to score high in maths.

Segregate the chapters according to the time required in completing the chapter. Some chapters may be quite big with lots of topics and need time. Make sure to allow enough time so that the practice is done properly.

Understanding each topic is very important. You can also watch the videos on youtube for the explanation of the particular chapters which you find difficult. Make a note of the important points or the formula. Concentrate on the steps involved in the derivation.

Your notes are very important, either in class or at home. Make neat notes which will be easier to revise every day and follow the steps in the particular problems. Highlight the important formulas or theorems which need to be done or revised.

Usually, students ignore this part. They never give importance to the multiplication tables. If you want to avoid careless mistakes you should be thorough with the tables at least from 2 to 20. This can be practiced every day orally after your study sessions. This will help you to do the problems in less time and correctly.

It is important to review after each chapter. Take the help of your parents to give you a test. This will help you to rectify your mistakes and the level of your understanding. This will make you thorough with the concepts of each topic.

Clarifying the doubts

Clarifying doubts and rectifying mistakes is very important in this subject. If you have even a single doubt you will tend to make many mistakes in the problems. Try to clear the doubts with your teachers or parents so this gets clarified at the same time.

Solving the sample question papers

Once you have completed the syllabus, solve the sample papers to know if you are capable of completing the paper in a given time. Knowing all the chapters and if you do not have the agility to complete it will be of no use. So you have to be quick and also do the problems correctly showing each step till the answers are derived. Remember the method you practice the same way you will present during the exam. Practice correctly and neatly.

Many students have got in their mind that mathematics is tough. No, it is not if you have proper practice and have positive thinking that “You are a good Maths student”.  This positivity will give you motivation and interest. If you start getting scared then the mistakes will happen and the fear of the subject will develop which will be difficult to get rid of. So make sure to be positive from day one. Remember nothing is impossible if you put proper dedication and focus.

Once you have completed working out all the chapters, start from chapter one avoiding the mistakes If you can do it correctly and quickly means the study preparation is right and your understanding of the concept is on the proper track. Don’t worry if you get stuck, just check out where you have gone wrong or what silly mistake you have done. Rectify immediately and do the same sums along with some more so you know your mistakes make sure that the mistakes are not repeated.
