5 Uniqueness of Bali’s Tirta Empul Temple, You Must Visit!

From Melukat to Natural Springs.

There are many incredible and unique things from this temple for the worship of Lord Indra. But, at least five of them will be able to make you immediately want to visit there.

  • Hindu’s Melukattradition

In this temple, Hindus people will carry out the melukat tradition or holy bath. There is a special pool with clear springs, as the location for the purification.

You can also participate in this tradition. However, you must follow the rules, set by the manager and local people. According to the understanding of the local community, melukat at Tirta Empul Temple can also treat many types of diseases. However, women who are menstruating are not allowed to enter the area.

Bringing offerings or also called special Canang, then placed at the top of the shower where you will bathe and purify. Another rule is to place a knot of Kamen (a traditional Balinese cloth), wrapped around the waist during the Melukat process.
